Community Pool
This community pool is hiding in plain sight. Directly on a main road, and within walking distance from a school and the police station, the site is easy to miss if you are just passing by. The building that is visible from the road is generic and could just as easily be an old utility shed or public works building. The growth surrounding the building leaves no doubt that is is abandoned, but also provides some cover.
Only two buildings exist at this site. The first building, seen from the road, was locked up tight with little to see. This building probably held the water and filtration systems.
Walking around the building, and through the trees, it becomes more obvious what is here. Although filled in, the outlines of the pool are obvious.
The second building is far more interesting and has several openings to explore. Once inside it is obvious this building was used for changing rooms and bathrooms, with a mirror image layout for men and women.
One curious feature of the site was two shipping containers, connected together. They formed an L shape, and provided entrance to the building. They have clearly been here a while, and were likely added as part of a site cleanup effort.
As of 2023, the community pool has been completely demolished.
